FUP Navigator for Musicals and Event Venues

Tried-and-tested control system. Integrated and taken a step further.

The demands placed on modern stage control systems are complex: productions change rapidly, processes must be precisely coordinated, and existing systems need to be able to continue to be used flexibly. FUP Navigator was developed precisely for this purpose. The tried-and-tested STC-Navigator control concept has proven its worth over many years, particularly in theatre, musical and event technology under real-world operating conditions, and enables the efficient, reliable and cost-effective control of complex stage sequences.

FUP Navigator really comes into its own during performances. Multiple cues can be selected and triggered simultaneously; the user interface is customised to suit the production and also supports extensive and lengthy cue sequences. The footswitch, which comes as standard, further simplifies operation and ensures precise execution even in demanding live situations.

The FUP Navigator control concept is based on standardised PLC systems from Mitsubishi Electric and can be seamlessly integrated into existing installations. Stage control systems, fly-system controls, and lighting, sound and media systems are combined to form a seamless, synchronised overall system. In collaboration with ScalaOne, a seamless, SIL 3-certified control environment is being developed within the SCALA network, combining proven operational reliability with state-of-the-art control technology.

DETAILS

The FUP Navigator control concept

Individuality makes all the difference. From simple engineering services to the implementation of highly complex stage movements using a wide variety of drive technologies. With our FUP Navigator control concept, you always have everything under control. It brings creative visions to life and inspires decision-makers and users alike. Not least because of the unlimited scope for expansion. For maximum safety, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

The FUP Navigator control concept, which can be tailored to your specific requirements, allows you to freely configure complex motion sequences for any number of drives within a single scene (cue). For example, you can start or stop eight of these cues independently of one another within a single cue page. Optionally, this can be combined with unlimited, cross-scene motion sequences running in the background.

TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM

FUP Navigator and Scala One are based on industrial standard components from Mitsubishi Electric and meet the highest safety requirements in accordance with EN 61508 (SIL 3), EN 17206 and DGUV Rule 115-002. The use of components that are both forward and backward compatible ensures long-term availability of spare parts, enables the integration of new technologies into existing systems and provides maximum investment security.

SOFTWARE

With FUP Navigator, users can control and monitor a wide variety of drive technologies on a single platform – from electrical to hydraulic systems. Comprehensive analysis and diagnostic functions, including the system monitor, provide transparency regarding the system’s status at all times and enable the easy integration of other systems such as building services and security systems.

LIGHTHOUSE PROJECT

An outstanding example of FUP Navigator’s capabilities was the creation of two eight-axis flight systems for the German Pavilion at EXPO 2015 in Milan. In collaboration with the University of Stuttgart and the Fraunhofer Institute, a spectacular motion installation was created based on the SIL3-certified FUP Navigator control concept, featuring more than 7,500 shows and over 72,000 motion sequences per performance.
